INNER GAME OF MUSIC

Reviews from Readers

I have not read a more fabulous book about music!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been a long time sufferer of audition anxiety, but this book effectively proposes solutions to eliminate the kind of worrying that used to paralyze me. Not only does Barry Green put forth his points in a logical, easy-to-understand format, but he often illustrates his points with anecdotes which help to make his ideas more practical and not so enigmatic and unworkable.

Reading this book is a potentially life changing experience. I urge all of you to give it a try…even if you are already a capable performer.

I don’t know how to describe how much this book has enriched my musical experience. In the few months after I read it, I am having epiphany after epiphany about the different aspects of this_ method. This book has allowed me to add a new, astonishing emotional quality to my musical experience. I feel that I have just now begun to learn what making music is really about. And it’s so joyful to find out how easy, playful and fulfilling it really is.

Former principal bassist of the Cincinnati Symphony, Barry Green has created what has to be one of the most important books on musical psychology ever written.
Within the exercises is actually a mythology for dealing with attention deficit disorder! I have had ADD since before there was a diagnosis for it and the methods in this book are not only helping me with music but are also having a profound affect on other areas of my life.
It has brought out of me more confidence and made my music playing much more enjoyable. Since I am an adult student, I have a lot of insecurities and fears about music ~ this book has ideas and exercises to calm and focus even me. Wonderful!

The MASTERY OF MUSIC: Ten Pathways to True Artistry

This book is fantastic!!!! Regardless of if you were one of the millions to read The Inner Game of Music you should drop everything and pick up this book.
As a non-musician music lover, this book gave me a rare and interesting look about what inspires and motivates the greats of our time.

This book is simply the best book ever written about music!

Green has through his illuminating books become a beacon for musicians who wish to reach their true potential in performance and learning.

BRINGING MUSIC TO LIFE

Your Bringing Music to Life is an answer to my prayers. It is the first book I’ve ever read in my 30 years of music lessons, playing, and exploration that has addressed the “spiritual mechanics” of music-making- that is, what really makes music musical.

This is not a book to read, it is a book to live. Bringing Music to Life can launch your courage, vision, and vitality.

While any musician might find this book fascinating, it could find its most appreciative audience among those musicians who feel stale in their music making, and among teachers searching for new ideas to energize and inspire their students. One can only be moved by Green’s passion to change lives, his eagerness to share his recent discoveries with readers. The result is an energizing, joyful, persuasive, and spiritual read.

I am weeping a bit, Barry, after reading your book… What an amazing essay—so sensitive and real. Your quest and profound curiosity about life, art, nature, and the spirit is simply a triumph of ideas, research, and most of all kindness! Blessings and love to a great inspirational human.
