Active as a double bass soloist, Barry performs recitals in Northern and Southern California and internationally on tour. Prior to re-locating in the San Diego, Barry was known for a unique concert series in Cincinnati called THE BIG GREEN MACHINE. Green’s recent programs have included special ‘glow in the dark’ masks, gloves, bows and props under the title of ‘Green Man’ . His repertoire includes eclectic folk, jazz, world music and many original compositions written for him by the UK composer Tony Osborne. His unique theme concerts included jazz, classical, avant-garde, vocal, klezmer, new age, dance, theater, and family concerts with zoo animals.
Green has performed at bass festivals in Poland, Germany, China, Switzerland, Brazil, in Las Vegas, at the International Society of Bass Conventions and throughout the USA. Barry Green appeared as soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Tone Poem based on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Recent concerto appearances included Frank Proto’s Carmen Fantasie for Bass and Orchestra performed with Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra(California),and Sun Valley Summer Symphony (Idaho), the Duluth Symphony, the US Air Force Band (Wash DC) and more.
